Mr.Karrot was thrilled to be invited to talk about healthy eating and nutrition by The Bishop’s school, Camp on Friday, 7th September 2018. It was great fun to interact with the students of different grades and share our passion and knowledge about healthy food and handy tips to eat fresh.
Many of the common diseases today spring from an improper diet with reduced intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. These food items provide the bulk of the vitamins and minerals required for the proper functioning of our bodies and eating healthy starts from when one is young.
Some of the simple tips included ‘eating the rainbow’, i.e. eating different coloured fruits and vegetables to get the benefits of different kinds of nutrients. The importance of drinking sufficient water was also stressed and lemonades or nimbu paani was agreed as a refreshing and cool way to stay hydrated.
School going children are at a crucial stage in their development and the right nutrition is essential for their physical, mental and emotional health. We are what we eat and eating fresh, clean fruits and vegetables everyday goes a long way in developing a healthy lifestyle.
We’re happy and glad that The Bishop’s School, Camp gave us an opportunity to encourage the bright students to eat more fresh food, play hard and rest enough. We were delighted to see the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders take on a 7 day challenge to include more fruits and vegetables and overwhelmed to see all the responses.
