Here is an easy recipe for Citrus Poached Pears- a delicious gourmet dessert sumptuous with warm, punchy pear notes and a hint of cinnamon spice!
You Will Need:
- 1 lemon
- 1 orange
- 1 stick of cinnamon
- 4-5 cloves
- 200 g granulated sugar
- 2 pears
- double cream , to serve
Peel the pears, grate the peels of the lemon and orange for zest and juice the fruits. Place the peeled zest and juice into a large saucepan. Add the cinnamon, cloves and sugar, pour in 500ml of water and bring to the boil. Cook until the sugar dissolves.
Reduce the heat and lower the peeled whole pears into the syrup. Simmer gently for 10 to 12 minutes until tender; remove from the heat and leave to cool.
Serve the pears with double cream and 4 tablespoons of poaching liquid per person.
